JOHN Challis, best known for playing ‘Boycie’ in the classic BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, has been confirmed as the guest of honour at another ‘classic’ – the Footman James Great Western Classic Car Show in Bristol.
The show takes place on February 10-11 at the Bath and West Showground and will feature one of the most fascinating displays of classic cars in the UK.
John is a classic car enthusiast himself and has released a number of books, which he will be selling at the show – including a book about his life ‘Being Boycie’ alongside Del Boy (David Jason) and Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and ‘Boycie and Beyond.’ He said: “As a successful entrepreneur within the classic car world, I am proud to say I have never had a yellow three-wheeler on my forecourt.
“I am looking forward to the Great Western Classic Car Show where I shall be among some pukka motors. Come and see me – I have written the story of my life so you might like to have a read and pick up some tips on how to succeed. Hahahahaha!”
Exhibition planner Vicky Bean said: “It’s great to have confirmed John as a guest of honour and I think it brings a completely new element to the show that we haven’t had before. This show is a great season opener every year and this year will definitely be no different!”
Discounted tickets can be bought in advance of the weekend and offer a £2 saving against gate prices with a one-day pass available for just £8.
The show features hundreds of cars and a variety of autojumble trade stands, club displays and private entries, and culminates with an auction of classic vehicles from Dorset-based Charterhouse on Sunday afternoon.
